WIXE DEPUTY OF THE MONTH JULY 2024 

On behalf of Sheriff Eddie Cathey, we respectfully submit Deputy James “Jay” Murray as the UCSO’s Deputy of the Month for July 2024. Deputy Murray began his career with the UCSO in April of 2013 and can only be described as a leader to his peers and a true joy to work with. Deputy Murray is a member of the Indian Trail Traffic Unit and is one of two deputies who head up the Fictitious Tag Initiative. He has been pivotal in contacting other agencies and conducting county-wide roundups for traffic violations. He is currently speaking with State agencies, NC License and Theft, and NC Insurance Commission about finding the makers of these tags. Deputy Murray is also a Drug Recognition Expert and general instructor of SFST classes. Sheriff Eddie Cathey is exceptionally proud of Deputy Murray’s hard work and dedication to keeping our roads safe for all Union County residents, and it is with great pleasure that we recognize Deputy James Murray as our UCSO Deputy of the Month for July 2024.
