The Public Information Officer is responsible for the release of information to the public. The PIO Lieutenant is structured under the Chief Deputy of Operations and is the point of contact for the agency. It is the policy of the Union County Sheriff’s Office to provide the public with as much information about relevant activities in the community as possible, consistent with applicable law, while in consideration of operational and personnel security.

The Sheriff's Office utilizes social media platforms along with coordination with the news media. In addition, the agency prepares written press releases concerning significant events and coordinates media interviews and press conferences, when appropriate.
