It is with great sadness that Sheriff Eddie Cathey provides an update on the missing person investigation involving 37-year-old Alison Thomas of Monroe, NC. Earlier this week, Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (NC) deputies were notified that a deceased female had been located within their jurisdiction. A preliminary identification has been made in this case identifying the deceased female as Ms. Alison Thomas. This investigation is now being classified as a homicide and UCSO detectives are working closely with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation to identify and apprehend the person/persons responsible for the death of Ms. Thomas.

Ms. Thomas was last seen on 02/13/2023 on Flint Ridge Rd. which is located in northeastern Union County. UCSO deputies, detectives, and crime scene investigators began investigating this disappearance when it was reported to our office on 02/17/2023.

UCSO Detectives ask that anyone with information pertaining to this case contact the Union County Sheriff’s Office or the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office using one or more of the methods below. As a reminder, anyone providing information that leads to an arrest in this homicide investigation may be eligible for up to a $5,000.00 reward and may remain anonymous. In order to maintain the integrity of and not interfere with the ongoing criminal investigation, no further information is available for release at this time. This incident isconsidered to be an isolated event and there is no known cause for concern for anyone in the Union or Jackson County areas.
