08-03-2023 Suspects Face Additional Charges in Ongoing Homicide Investigation

Earlier this week, UCSO detectives obtained additional criminal charges against the two defendants arrested last month as part of the extensive and ongoing investigation into the murder of 18-year-old Kierstyn Williamson. Based on facts and evidence gathered during the investigation, 25-year-old Joshua Newton, already in custody for First-Degree Murder and Obstruction of Justice, now faces an additional charge of Felony Conspiracy. 22-year- old Victoria Smith who was also already in custody now faces the charges of First-Degree Murder and Felony Conspiracy in addition to her initial charges of Obstruction of Justice and Accessory after the Fact. Both suspects remain in the Union County Detention Center and are not eligible for release at this time.
